★ WALKFAR PICK · THE VERDICT
Drive to Gulf Shores — and book one beach house, not eight hotel rooms
October is the trick. It's shoulder season on the Gulf, so beachfront rentals fall below peak-October hotel rates in Nashville — the team sleeps under one roof, gathers in one great room for the work sessions, and gets the water at 78°F for the afternoons. It's the cheapest and the most cohesive of the three.

Book it right:
Target a midweek Tue–Fri stay and lock the house 8–10 weeks out — beachfront sleeps-15 rentals are limited and go first. The one thing not to do: don't default to a downtown hotel block out of habit. For this group it's the most expensive option on the board and it scatters the team across eight rooms on different floors. Browse sleeps-15 Gulf Shores rentals →

WINNER
Gulf Shores
8.1/10
Cost 8.5
Team morale 9.0
Logistics 6.5
One house, one team, shoulder-season pricing. The longest drive, and worth it.

RUNNER-UP
Atlanta
7.6/10
Cost 7.5
Team morale 7.0
Logistics 9.0
Closest drive, endless meeting space. Best for a heads-down working offsite.

THIRD
Nashville
7.0/10
Cost 5.5
Team morale 9.0
Logistics 8.0
Best night out of the three — but peak-October rates and plenty to pull focus.

The gap is almost entirely lodging. Nashville is at its October peak (~$234/room/night); Gulf Shores in October is shoulder season, and a single large rental beats a block of hotel rooms outright.

|
02 · 🚐 Drive, Don't Fly
|
|
All three sit inside a half-day's drive of Birmingham, which changes the whole math. Flying 15 people anywhere — even nonstop — would add roughly $250–$400 per head in airfare, bags, and airport transfers, plus the friction of getting a group through security on the same itinerary. Three or four carpools, split on gas, costs $30–$50 per person and lets the team travel together.

03 · 🏠 Where 15 People Sleep
|
Gulf Shores — one beachfront house (the pick)
A sleeps-14–16 beachfront rental runs ~$1,150–$1,300/night in October shoulder season. Three nights ≈ $3,800 total, about $255/person. The great room doubles as your meeting space — no venue to rent. The whole team is under one roof.
|
Atlanta — a hotel block + included meeting room
8 double rooms at ~$165/night ≈ $264/person. Plenty of business hotels will throw in a meeting room with a block this size. Frictionless and professional, just less "retreat."
|
Nashville — downtown block, at a premium
October is Nashville's peak; downtown averages ~$234/room/night, pushing lodging to ~$374/person. Great walkability and nightlife — you pay for it.

05 · 🗓️ A 3-Day Flow (Gulf Shores)
|
|
Day 1 (Tue): Carpool down after an early lunch, settle the house, kickoff dinner on the deck.
Day 2 (Wed): Working sessions in the great room till 1pm, beach + team activity in the afternoon, group dinner out.
Day 3 (Thu): Planning + retro in the morning, free afternoon, low-key team night in.
Day 4 (Fri): Wrap session, pack, drive home by mid-afternoon.

|
|
06 · ⚖️ When Each One Wins
|
|
Pick Gulf Shores if morale and cohesion are the point and the budget is real — it's the cheapest and the most "together."
Pick Atlanta if it's a heads-down working offsite — shortest drive, the most meeting infrastructure, and you'd rather no one has to think about logistics.
Pick Nashville if this is a reward trip and the night out matters more than the line item — just know you're paying peak-October rates to be there.
